Your pics are interesting showing what looks like Flares on back of Missile. Sparrow III had front and rear Antennae compared the Front Signal reflected from target with Rear Signal received directly from launching Aircraft. Comparison was done Electronically in Doppler Speed Gate ( Electronic circuit in Missile ) Missile could not be Commanded from Launch A/C.
